AH- The government, which speeded up the EU preparations to receive an accession date from EU until 2004, held a cabinet meeting on Monday and decided to prepare a package in the framework of the EU criteria. The 6th adaptation package, including 10 items, is expected to be suggested to the parliament next month. The package foresees lifting the 8th article of the Anti-Terror Law and gives opportunity to radio, TV broadcasting in different languages.
Government Spokesman Cemil Cicek announced after the meeting that, the deficiencies in the laws were aimed to be concluded by the end of 2003 and applying and evaluating of new laws would be done during 2004. Cicek said, “ The government will fulfill its duty about the entry to EU until 2004.”
Stressing that the EU was a state policy Cicek said that, Turkey would conclude the necessary law amendments by the end of 2003 and the accession talks might begin in 2004. Cicek said that, a delay in the issue was inconvenient about the future of Turkey.
Stressing that the new law amendments would be suggested to the parliament as soon as possible, Cicek said that, the new national plan would be issued by the end of June.
