ANKARA - Turkey will buy four B737 type Airborne Warning and Control System planes (AWACS) from American Boeing company.
The agreement included the option for Turkey to buy two more AWACS planes. The first plane will be delivered 48 months after the main agreement goes into force.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan approved on April 20, 2003 the agreement signed on June 4, 2002 between Defense Industry Undersecretariat and Boeing company. The project's total cost is 1.1 billion dollars.
