ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said on Tuesday that Turkey's target to reach level of contemporary civilization made rooted, comprehensive and structural changes obligatory. He said, ''we believe that our sublime parliament would fulfill what is necessary in this process.''
Sezer issued a message for April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day.
In a statement issued by Presidential Press Center, Sezer stressed that 83rd year of the anniversary of Parliament's inauguration would be marked, stating that, ''Turkish Republic was founded not by coincidental developments, but implementation of planned views of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of Modern Turkish Republic.''
Sezer said national sovereignty became concrete, stating that Parliament was the backbone of democratic regime. He said, ''Turkey, which has entered a restructuring and transformation process, succeeded in making administration, education and legal system to reach a secular and democratic structure.''
In the end of his message, Sezer addressed to children and said, ''Great Founder Ataturk gave this day as a reward to you, and entrusted democratic, secular and contemporary Turkish Republic to children and young people.''
''We have full belief that you will work without being bored, be loyal to the principles and reforms of Ataturk, and without deviating from guidance of wisdom and science,'' Sezer stressed.
