ANKARA - Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said on Monday that Iskenderun Port would be the biggest logistic line within the scope of Iraq's rebuilding.
Speaking at his meeting with Turkish Contractors Union Chairman Nihat Ozdemir, Gul recalled the experiences of Turkey in process of Afghanistan, and noted that, ''we will do what is necessary with dynamism of private sector and experiences of state.''
Stating that foreign ministry was exerting great efforts, Gul said he was hopeful that the Turkish companies would play active roles in rebuilding of Iraq.
Gul said, ''those who said Turkey's importance would decrease, think of Turkey as an aircraft carrier. They are mistaken. Turkey's importance will never decrease. Iskenderun port will be the biggest logistic line.''
Gul said war lasted short, and that, ''we are hopeful for future''.
Gul said Turkey's macro-economic balances were good, and that an agreement was reached international finance institutions. He said Turkish contractors would benefit from this atmosphere.
