3 soldiers injured in S. Yemen attack

LAHJ (AA) – Three soldiers were injured Saturday in an attack in Yemen's southern Lahj province, a military source has said.

"Militants believed to belong to the separatist southern movement attacked a military site in the province," the source, requesting anonymity, told The Anadolu Agency.

According to the source, three soldiers were injured in ensuing clashes with the militants.

No information is yet available about casualties among the attackers.

Lahij has been the scene of deteriorating security since 2011, when a popular uprising forced autocratic President Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down one year later.

Many of Yemen's southerners demand secession from the northern part of the country.
