KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) – At least seven suspected militants were killed and 15 injured in Pakistan army airstrikes on Thursday.

A Pakistan army official said, on condition of anonymity, that militant hideouts were targeted in the Tirah valley, near the border with Afghanistan.

Since October, the Pakistan army has conducted ground and air operations in Khyber Agency, to eliminate the Taliban-affiliated Lashkar e Islam militant group.

Similar operations are also continuing in adjoining North Waziristan against the main Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan militant network.

According to the Pakistan army, more than 2,300 militants have been killed in the tribal region in ongoing operations since June 15.

The figures cannot be independently verified due to a ban on media in the operation-hit areas.

More than 200 soldiers have also been killed in landmine blasts and clashes with the Taliban during this period.
