Morocco rejects CAF penalties

RABAT – The Moroccan Football Federation has said it rejects penalties imposed by the Confederation of African Football.

In a statement, the Moroccan football body said that the CAF’s decision does not serve the sport or African football and has no legal basis.

Last week, the CAF banned Morocco from the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, fining them €8 million ($9 million) in compensation; the North African country had pulled out as hosts of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations due to the Ebola outbreak.

The CAF decided that Equatorial Guinea would host this year’s tournament.
