Turkey: Stock exchange chief resigns, plans to run in elections

ANKARA - Ibrahim Turan, head of Turkey's main stock exchange Borsa Istanbul, resigned in order to run in the June parliamentary elections, Borsa Istanbul officials said Tuesday.

According to the Turkish constitution, Feb. 10 is the deadline for civil servants to step down in order to be allowed to run in the elections.

The last elections were held on June 12, 2014, while this year’s voting will take place on June 7.
