Italian press report crisis at AC Milan

ROME – Italian media are reporting that Serie A side AC Milan are beset by financial problems as well as suffering poor results on the pitch, leaving club owner and former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi unhappy.

AC Milan, last crowned Serie A winners in 2011, has endured disappointing results under manager Filippo Inzaghi this season.

Italian papers on Tuesday said that the poor league results – two points in the last four league matches – upset fans and club owner Berlusconi.

AC Milan's upcoming matches, such as a league game against Lazio plus Italian Cup games could seal Inzaghi's fate at the club.

Meanwhile, the Milanese club is being mocked on social media after selling its team bus for €150,000 in a savings measure.

The club has been incapable of signing a star player in recent years amid financial problems due to a failure to qualify for European challenges this season.

AC Milan was one of the most remarkable clubs in both Italian and European football history, managing to win 18 Serie A titles and lift the UEFA Champions League trophy seven times.

Throughout their history Milanese club has nurtured many important football figures such as Italian defender Paolo Maldini, midfielder Andrea Pirlo, Dutch attacking midfielder Clarence Seedorf, Brazilian playmaker Kaka and Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko.
