Deadly landslide kills woman in Bosnia

SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina (AA) – A sudden landslide has claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman as debris swept through houses in central Bosnia.

The incident happened in Bare near Kakanj municipality late on Sunday.

The female fatality was identified only by the initials, S.K. Three other people were taken from ruins of the houses destroyed in the landslide at 9 p.m. local time, an official from the Ministry of Interior Affairs confirmed.

Rescue teams brought three people out of the ruins, including one child, civil protection head Nurudin Hrusto confirmed.

"A mother and her daughter who suffered minor injuries were brought out of the ruins. They were transferred to hospital," said Hrusto. The third survivor remains unidentified.

The powerful landslide destroyed seven housing units, home to 23 inhabitants.
