Football: Inter's Romanian centre-back leaves club

ANKARA - Having played seven seasons for Inter, Romanian centre-back Cristian Chivu leaves the Milanese club after his contract was terminated Monday.

A mutual termination was announced on Inter's official website on Monday. The Milanese club thanked Chivu for his great strength, loyalty and the key role he played during his years with the club that will always be remembered as among some of the most glorious in Inter's history.

Romanian international has been suffering a major toe injury which has taken him out of action for seven and a half months.

According to german-based website, Transfermarkt, that tracks footballing performances, 33-year-old Cristian Chivu, capped for Romania 75 times and scored three goals.

In the Inter era which saw the highlights of his football career, experienced defender Cristian Chivu witnessed three Italian Serie A titles, two Italian Cups, two Italian Super Cups, one UEFA Champions League and one FIFA Club World Cup Championship.
