WASHINGTON

The House of Representatives is debating articles of impeachment Wednesday against President Donald Trump.

House Speaker Pelosi recited the Pledge of Allegiance while opening the debate that will discuss articles of obstruction of Congress and abuse of power.

“Very sadly now, our founders vision of a republic is under threat from actions of the White House,” she said on Capitol Hill. “That is why today, as speaker of the house, I solemnly and sadly open the debate on the impeachment of the president of the United States.”

Pelosi said Trump’s “reckless” actions made the impeachment “necessary” and the U.S.
